Bad switch = no power to motor. I think those who have similar probs (as described above) will find this to be the solution. That said--since I had the door apart- I went ahead and replaced the regulator w/motor along with switch. Trust me it was the switch, I just figured a whole new pwr window assembly was worth it. Switch - $65 Reg w/motor- $49
1. Replacing A Blown Fuse Or Faulty Relay. If your Dodge Ram 1500 power window is not working, one of the potential causes could be a blown fuse or a faulty relay in the electrical system. To fix this issue, you can follow these steps: Locate the fuse box under the hood of your Dodge Ram 1500.
A faulty power window switch keeps the window from going up but may allow it to go down. This means the switch has no problem working on the side managing the downward rolling. A broken wire due to flex when opening the door may also be the reason the window stops going up.
As the problem affects both sides, the problem should be somewhere before the point that the circuits separate at the fuse box. Check the 30A PWR/WINDOW fuse and socket for possible corrosion. Maybe try using some contact cleaner and a new fuse. Make sure that the fuse fits tightly in the contacts. D.
Inside the switch, there are 2 tiny metal tabs that pivot when you press the switch up or down. They complete a connection which sends power to the window motor, causing it to go up or down. The problem is that power windows use a LOT of juice (current), and all that power runs through those tiny little tabs.
